Does any one know what the average voltage is for a motorcycle?
I just re did all my electric system on my motorcycle and spent quite a bit of money doing it. I bought a Voltage Regulator for my bike and it went from about 30 sum volts with the old one to 13 to 16 with the new one, is this normal, because I do not want to fry everything I just put on the bike. Any feed back would be awesome. Thanks – Paul
Here are some approximate voltages for a 12 v motorcycle in good order:
1. a fully-charged battery : 12.6-12.8 v
2. Charging voltage at idle: 13.1 v.
3. charging voltage should increase with revs to somewhere around 14-14.5 v until the voltage regulator cuts it off. 16v is a bit high, but I can’t tell you if it is abnormal for your bike. You can expect to have to top up the battery frequently at the very least.
